WinCycle Hard Drive Processing
Hard Disk Drives of value are thoroughly tested.
If a drive passes testing:
The drive is wiped clean using the 4-pass Department of Defense (DoD) 5220.22-M section 8-306 procedure for sanitizing removable and non-removable rigid disks which requires overwriting all addressable locations with a character, its complement, a random character, then verify.
If a drive fails testing, is too old, or is deemed otherwise unusable:
The drive is physically destroyed (shattered or punched with hydraulic press) by our staff, and then sent to be melted or shredded by one of the companies that handles our recycling.
If you have any questions on our information privacy policies, please ask us.
Note: Despite our robust data destruction procedures it cannot be guaranteed that a federal agency, with access to the resources of a National Laboratory, could not still retrieve some information off the remains of a destroyed drive.
